PATHOGEN

ZIKA

Zika is a virus originating from Africa. It is circle-like with little T's coming out of it. It can be transmitted through mosquitoes and sexual contact. The body part it hits is anywhere on the human body. The incubation period is about 3-12 days. Zika causes the Zika Fever. In pregnant women, Zika virus affects the placenta and it is believed that is the cause of microcephaly. The placenta is the way that an unborn child gets blood, food, and oxygen from the mother. It's believed that the virus impairs the flow of blood, oxygen, and nutrients to the fetus

The symptoms are pain behind the eyes, joints, muscles, fatigue fever, chills, loss of appetite, sweating, eye redness, headache, skin rash or vomiting. The duration of the illness is 2-7 days. What is virulence? Virulence is the severity or harmfulness of a disease or poison. Our pathogen is pretty deadly.
